Mint Julep Jazz Band

Poster by FRANCO

With their little big band lineup of 4 horns, rhythm section, and vocalist, the Mint Julep Jazz Band recreates the hot jazz sounds of the 1920′s and 1930′s through arrangements based on original recordings from the jazz age and swing era. Formed in 2011 by trombonist Lucian Cobb and vocalist Laura Windley, the Mint Julep Jazz Band features some of the Triangle’s best young, professional jazz musicians, such as trumpter Al Strong, Aaron Hill and Peter Lamb on saxophone and clarinet, Jason Foureman on bass, Aaron Tucker on drums, and Jared Wofford on guitar. While this may be your grandpa’s jazz, you’ve probably never heard it performed live like this before – the Mint Julep Jazz Band strives to create an authentic early jazz experience that will transport you back in time, while moving forward with a fresh take on this music to give it a new life in the 21st century.
