Third Friday, July 15, 6pm-9pm
Tattoo for Japan Benefit Party/ Dogstar Tattoo
This Friday, Dogstar will be wrapping up their fund raising project to aid earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. We’re ready to make our donation! Since April Dogstar has been offering a small kanji for only $20, all of which is being donated to the fund. Friday night will be the last evening to make your contribution. Join us for an event filled evening including a traditional Japanese tea presentation at LabourLove Gallery, a Taiko performance (Japanese drums), and a Kendo demonstration provided by Triangle Kendo and Iaido. Throughout the evening you can still participate in the kanji project, partake in local food trucks, visit artist studios and sip on free beer and wine.
Traditional Tea Presentation in LabourLove
Please join us in the Labour of Love Gallery for a special presentation of the Japanese Tea Tradition, led by Nancy Hamilton of the Duke Gardens Tea Practice. The Japanese Tea Tradition draws on the arts of ceramics, poetry, seaonal nuance, and hospitality to create a moment of aesthetic retreat that celebrates the present moment. Nancy Hamilton, Cultural Programming Coordinator at Duke Gardens, leads the Japanese Tea practice at the Duke Gardens teahouse, where a monthly program of tea gatherings is offered. Upcoming dates for the fall are as follows: 9/17, 10/14, 11/4. For more information, contact Nancy Hamilton.
