Some of my photographs have been described as a cross between documentary and “artistically symbolic”. Consequently, as influenced as I am by narrative photography and straightforward images, I rarely tell a linear story. Mixing styles allows me to apply layers of meaning through a whatever-it-takes approach to image making. In many cases, there is an added figure, landscape or object overlapping in montage collage, digitally or hand applied. I am interested in using photography to capture the dual nature of things; absence and presence, past present, memory and loss.
