Michael is an artist and a magician living in Morrisville, North Carolina. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up on the Chesapeake Bay around steel men and dock workers. During the 80’s his father’s factory was closed and he swiftly joined the Marine Corps, sending the family to Memphis, Tennessee and then Jacksonville, North Carolina. Michael’s artwork art is simple, yet indirect. He mixes several different types of styles and mediums, from oil sticks to stencils and spray paints. He embodies the industrial roughness coupled with the southern beauty, and he enjoys the study of symbols and incorporates them frequently into his work to tell a story or set a mood. The roughness of the work and incorporation of symbols is used to make something old seem new again in order to display a beauty in the simple imagery with expressions of escape and freedom from the everyday.
