I grew up in San Diego, and moved to North Carolina in 1989. I have lived in Durham since 1996. I began making jewelry as a child. I don’t know how, why, or when, but I always remember making jewelry. I sold my first pieces in 7th grade – bracelets made from aquarium tubing filled with colored water and glitter (seriously!).
My jewelry is inspired by the colors of the landscape of my childhood – ocean and desert. Though the lushness, and colorfulness of my Carolina garden is showing through these days as well. I would describe my work as nature-inspired, sometimes whimsical, with a vintage flair. I use semi-precious stones, sterling silver, and objects – found and otherwise.
